The one where we go to see the Lake of Barcis

09 Marzo 2019 – Questa volta ci dirigiamo verso il lago di Barcis, provincia di Pordenone, nella regione del Friuli Venezia Giulia, che colpevolmente, in questi anni abbiamo esplorato troppo poco. Arrivando da Longarone nel bellunese si percorre, praticamente dentro un canyon, la strada regionale 251 che costeggia il torrente Cellina, e che è già da sola, molto affascinante e di notevole impatto visivo. Passato il centro di Barcis e arrivati alla diga, abbiamo parcheggiato e ci siamo incamminati per il sentiero Dint. Qui si sale senza paerticolare difficoltà e lungo il sentiero sono dislocate 3 postazioni dalle quali si può godere del panorama sul lago, sulla spettacolare forra del torrente Cellina e sulla vecchia strda della valcellina. Spettacolo.

Altri scatti fatti con l’Olympus e il 12-60 Panasonic, il tutto senza capire ancora bene la profondità di campo del micro quattro terzi.

09 March 2019 – This time we head towards the lake of Barcis, in the province of Pordenone, in the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, which we have not explored very much. Coming from Longarone in the Belluno area, we follow, practically in a canyon, the regional road 251 that runs along the Cellina stream, and that is already alone, very fascinating and of remarkable visual impact. Passed the center of Barcis and arrived at the dam, we parked and we walked for the path Dint. Here you can climb without any particular difficulty and along the path there are 3 positions from which you can enjoy the view of the lake, the spectacular gorge of the river Cellina and the old road of the Valcellina. Spectacular.

The one where I go to Treviso at night

24 Febbraio 2019 – Scatti fatti a Treviso cercando di creare qualcosa di bello con l’illuminazione artificiale. Inspiegabili dominanti verdi e luci giallognole; poi c’era anche il freddo, anche se non si vede.
Facendo queste foto ho potuto aprezzare la tenuta anche a 1600 ISO della Olympus, cose che poi dicono che le micro quattro terzi non tengono e son pochi: con la Pentax non osavo andare oltre gli 800..

24 February 2019 – Take pictures taken in Treviso trying to create something beautiful with artificial lighting. Explainable dominant greens and yellowish lights; then there was also the cold, even if you can’t see it.
Taking these pictures I could appreciate how Olympus maintained sharpness even at 1600 ISO, things that then say that the micro four thirds do not hold and that are few: with the Pentax I dared not go beyond 800..

The one where we found a beautiful bridge in Pieve di Cadore

09 Febbraio 2019 – Ebbene sì, dopo 12 anni di onorato servizio, ho pensionato la mia vecchia vettura in favore di una nuova, più confortevole e pure un po’ più grande. E così per provarla finalmente in montagna, siamo andati in una domenica pomeriggio, al lago di Cadore: lago artificiale nato a causa dell’ennesimo sbarramento lungo il corso del fiume Piave. Gitarella così, senza pretese. Il lago in questione si presentava coperto interamente dalla neve, e una volta scesi alla diga vera e propria, abbiamo trovato uno scenario niente male: imbiancato e quasi fiabesco, vecchio ponte ad arco e in muratura compreso.
Poi abbiamo attraversato la diga, io credevo di trovare chissà che vista da fotografare durante la Golden Hour, magari con le montagne opposte al sole che ne avrebbero riflettuto la lauce tingendosi di arancione, e invece proprio per niente.

09 February 2019 – Well yes, after 12 years of honourable service, I retired my old car in favor of a new, more comfortable and also a little ‘bigger. And so to finally try it in the mountains, we went on a Sunday afternoon to Lake Cadore: an artificial lake born because of the umpteenth barrier along the course of the river Piave. Gitarella like this, without pretensions. The lake in question was covered entirely by snow, and once we got off at the dam itself, we found a scenario not bad, whitewashed and almost fairy-tale, old bridge arched and masonry included.
Then we crossed the dam, I thought I would find who knows what view to photograph during the Golden Hour, perhaps with the mountains opposite the sun that would reflect the lauce tinged with orange, and instead not at all.

The one where I photograph Milan

07 Febbraio 2019 – Maledetti treni italiani! Fatalità quando ne dobbiamo prendere uno noi c’è sempre qualche problema; e così per arrivare a Milano ci abbiamo messo 5 ore anzichè 3, e una volta arrivati nella città meneghina abbiamo dovuto fare tutto di corsa. Subito a mangiare il Ramen (motivo principale della visita milanese), poi una veloce capatina a piazza del Duomo, qualche foto alla cattedrale e alla galleria Vittorio Emanuele, e poi subito dopo poche ore, di nuovo sul treno, che ovviamente ci ha fatto arrivare in ritardo per problemi lungo il percorso.

Prima uscita col nuovo obiettivo Panasonic Leica 12-60 che ho acquistato recentemente per avere un tuttofare di alta qualità, indispensabile nella maggior parte delle occasioni. Direi che come qualità non delude. In questa uscita ho anche sperimentato gli scatti in jpeg della Olympus scoprendo un ottimo bianco e nero in camera.

07 February 2019 – Damn Italian trains! Fatality when we have to take one there is always some problem, and so to get to Milan we took 5 hours instead of 3, and once we arrived in the city of Milan we had to do everything running. Immediately to eat the Ramen (main reason of the Milanese visit), then a quick detour to Piazza del Duomo, some photos of the cathedral and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, and then immediately after a few hours, back on the train, which obviously made us arrive late for problems along the way.

First exit with the new Panasonic Leica 12-60 lens that I bought recently to have a high quality all-rounder, essential in most occasions. I would say that as quality does not disappoint. In this issue I also experienced the jpeg shots of Olympus discovering an excellent black and white in camera.

Venezia Day Two – The one where we see sunrise

27 gennaio 2019 – Venne poi il giorno dopo, e la sveglia suonò molto presto.
Neanche troppo a dir la verità, tanto a noi sarebbe bastato scendere qualche scalino per trovarci in una piazza san Marco praticamente deserta. 
Solo noi e qualche altro fotografo ad aspettare il sorgere di un sole che, in realtà, non sarebbe mai arrivato. 
Infatti come fosse il karma che ci puniva per avere avuto come dono una camera che normalmente costava più di un nostro stipendio, adesso arrivavano le nuvole a nascondere il sole che nasceva.

27 January 2019 – Then came the next day, and the alarm clock rang very early.  
Not even too much to tell the truth, it would have been enough for us to go down a few steps to find ourselves in a practically deserted Piazza San Marco. 
Just us and some other photographers waiting for the rising of a sun that, in reality, would never have arrived. In fact, as if it were karma that punished us for having had as a gift a room that normally cost more than our salary, now the clouds came to hide the sun that was rising.

Venezia Day One – The one where we walk at night in Venice.

26 gennaio 2019 – Era un desiderio che avevamo da molti anni, quello di dormire una notte a Venezia. Si sarebbero così potute fare delle foto notturne, svegliarsi presto al mattino, e incrociare l’alba a piazza San Marco. Trovammo per una fortuita coincidenza una stanza proprio sulla piazza San Marco, con una vista incredibile sulla famosa basilica. Potemmo così girovagare in libertà per Venezia, senza l’assillo di dover far presto per prendere il treno e tornare a casa.
Ho scattato, armato di treppiede, e con la nuova Olympus con il fisso da 17mm, unico obiettivo del quale per ora dispongo, per le vie di Venezia.

26 January 2019 – It was a wish we had for many years, to sleep one night in Venice. It would have been possible to take night photos, wake up early in the morning, and cross the dawn in St. Mark’s Square. By chance, we found a room right on St Mark’s Square, with an incredible view of the famous basilica. So we could wander freely around Venice, without the hassle of having to hurry to catch the train and return home.
I took the trip, armed with a tripod, and with the new Olympus with the 17mm fixed, the only goal I have for now, through the streets of Venice.

The one where we go to see the “Casoni”

20 Gennaio 2019 – Piccola gita a Caorle, che è sempre bella da vedere, a dire il vero più per provare l’auto nuova che per fare delle fotografie, anche se, comunque, avevo programmato una deviazione verso i famosi casoni (abitazioni dove un tempo, e forse anche adesso, vivevano i pescatori). Però non è stata proprio all’altezza delle aspettative (infatti di casoni nelle foto qui sopra non ce n’è neanche uno), in quanto i casoni sono tutti un po’ nascosti dalla vegetazione e per vederli bene bisognerebbe stare dalla parte della laguna. E’ stato invece molto emozionante il momento in cui ci siao trovati circondati da una colonia di gatti.

Ancora una volta scatto con la Olympus e il 17mm fisso, che non deludono e anzi convincono sempre più, in attesa di acquistare l’obiettivo tuttofare.

20 January 2019 – Small trip to Caorle, which is always beautiful to see, actually more to try the new car than to take pictures, although, however, I had planned a detour to the famous casoni (houses where once, and perhaps even now, lived fishermen). But it was not really up to expectations (in fact of casoni in the photos above there is not even one), as the casoni are all a bit ‘hidden by the vegetation and to see them well you should be on the side of the lagoon. It ‘was very exciting when there was found surrounded by a colony of cats.

Once again I shoot with the Olympus and the 17mm fixed, which do not disappoint and indeed convince more and more, waiting to buy the all-rounder lens.

09 dicembre 2018 – Capita che al mattino uno non riesce a dormire e allora prende la macchina e va sulla montagna più vicina, sperando di beccare l’alba e la neve. Poi arriva e l’alba è già passata, ma comunque trova un paesaggio niente male, e allora fa qualche foto lo stesso. Le prime sono venute anche bene, poi si è alzato il sole, si è cambiata location, e le altre non sono venute altrettanto bene.
Scatti fatti con la Olympus ancora con il 17mm, e colori restituiti non sempre graditi.

09 December 2018 – That morning I woke up early and drove to the nearest mountain, hoping to catch the sunrise and the snow. By the time I arrived, however, the dawn had already passed, but fortunately the landscape was equally beautiful. The first photos I took also came out well, then the sun got up, the location changed, and the others didn’t come out so well.
Shots taken with the Olympus, still with the 17mm, and colors returned not always welcome.

The one where we go back to the mountains

27 Agosto 2018-Si torna finalmente alla montagna e per farlo ci rechiamo al passo Manghen. Dal rifugio che si chiama, ma guarda un po’, “Rifugio Manghen”, compiamo un percorso ad anello che ci porterà a salire sulla Cima Ziolera a 2481 metri e dove mangeremo un panino, per poi scendere al laghetto delle Buse e tornare al rifugio a bere una birra. Bellissimi panorami dalla Cima e bellissima ambientazione vasta e austera attorno al laghetto.

Foto dalle ombre dure e marcate, luce intensa e abbagliante a causa dell’orario centrale e della giornata particolarmente serena e calda. La piccola Olympus e il 17mm Zuiko hanno comunque restituito degli ottimi scatti, per quanto potevano.

27 August 2018_ – We finally return to the mountain, and we go to the Manghen pass. From the “Rifugio Manghen”, we take a circular route that leads us to climb the Cima Ziolera at 2481 meters and where we eat a delicious sandwich, then descend to the lake of the Buse, and return to the shelter to drink a beer. Beautiful views from the top and a beautiful and austere setting around the pond._

The light of the central hours of the day has caused photos with harsh shadows with bright light. Also the day was particularly serene and warm. The small Olympus and the 17mm Zuiko have still returned excellent shots, as far as they could.

Col Bricon

16 Agosto 2018 – A distanza di due anni, siamo tornati ai laghetti di Colbricon.  

Quella volta fotografai con l’iPhone, e poi lo persi.

Questa volta ha fatto invece il suo debutto la mia nuova Olympus OM-D E-M5 mark II, abbinata per ora ad un obiiettivo Zuiko 17mm f/1.8, che ho acquistato in nome della leggerezza. In futuro conto di vendere la mia Pentax e rifarmi un nuovo corredo micro quattro terzi.

Come prima uscita mi sono trovato abbastanza bene con la Oly, considerato che dobbiamo ancora conoscerci bene e che non sono abituato a fotografare esclusivamente con un fisso (equivalente a un 35mm).
Solo dopo aver post-prodotto le foto ho poi scoperto che il sensore micro quattro terzi e Lightroom, non vanno proprio d’accordissimo e che quindi bisogna metterci un po’ di attenzione. .

Per quanto riguarda l’escursione, il meteo era bruttino e ha minacciato pioggia per tutto il tempo, ma noi stoici siamo andati avanti, abbiamo sfidato gli eventi, vinto impetuose raffiche di vento, e alla fine è uscito anche il sole.

August 16, 2018  – Two years later, we returned to the Colbricon lakes.

That time I photographed with the iPhone, and then I lost it.

This time he made his debut my new Olympus OM-D E-M5 mark II, combined for now with a Zuiko lens 17mm f / 1.8, which I bought in the name of lightness. In the future I plan to sell my Pentax and make a new four-thirds micro kit.

As a first exit I found myself quite well with Oly, considering that we still know each other well and that I’m not used to photographing exclusively with a fixed (equivalent to a 35mm).

Only after having post-produced the photos I then discovered that the sensor micro four-thirds and Lightroom, do not go very well and therefore we need to put a little ‘attention. 

As for the excursion, the weather was ugly and threatened rain all the time, but we Stoics went ahead, we defied the events, won raging wind, and finally the sun came out.

Calaita Lake

4 Agosto 2018 – Dopo l’acquisto della Olympus, non sarei dovuto uscire con la Pentax, ma ad affrontare una intera giornata con una macchinetta nuova e sconosciuta non me la sono sentita, tanto più che il meteo prometteva bene: sereno con qualche nuvoletta sparsa. Un’occasione che non poteva essere sprecata.

Credevo, fra l’altro, di arrivare in un laghetto dolomitico semideserto, dimenticato da tutti; invece, già al nostro arrivo, il parcheggio a pagamento mi fece intuire che non era proprio così. E poi le nuvolette sparse di cui sopra si radunarono e ci giocarono un tiro mancino e così cominciò a piovere, tanto che dovemmo rintanarci nel vicino rifugio per qualche ora.

Finalmente, finita la pioggia siamo potuti uscire a fare due passi e quattro fotografie in questa sorta di piccola valle, con quel laghetto che le dona quel qualcosa in più. Volendo poi seguire il sentiero, addirittura pavimentato, si potrebbe arrivare fino a San Martino di Castrozza, ma era troppo tardi per farlo e ci siamo accontentati della vista delle Pale dalla forcella.

4 August 2018 – After the purchase of the Olympus, I would not have had to go out with the Pentax, but I did not know the new machine well yet, so I preferred it.

I thought the pond was an isolated place with few people; instead, already on our arrival, the paid parking made me realize that it was not so. And then it rained.

Finally, after the rain, we were able to go out for a walk and four photos in this little valley, with that little lake that gives it that little bit more. If you want to follow the path, you could get to San Martino di Castrozza, but it was too late to do it, and we were satisfied with the view of the Pale from the fork.

4 agosto 2018 – Salendo al lago di Calaita, una sosta e inaspettatamente uno scorcio da fotografare: il Ponte Serra e la vicina diga in muratura dei primi del ‘900.

Scattata in velocità, da un punto del ponte con traffico intenso con la K5 e il 18-135 a 24mm. 1/50 sec, f/8 e iso 100.

4 August 2018 – Going up to the Calaita lake, a stop and unexpectedly a glimpse to photograph: the Serra Bridge and the nearby masonry dam of the early ‘900.
